What Metacritic showed on October 22, 2026
Metacritic's game page listed a Metascore of 76, labelled Generally Favorable. It was built from four critic reviews, two positive and two mixed. The user score was 7.4 from five ratings, which is far too small a sample to mean much.
Metacritic showed critic scores only for the Switch 2 version. The Switch version had a single review without a score yet. The PS5, Xbox Series X and PC pages had no usable critic average at the time we checked.
Why four reviews is not a verdict
A Metascore from four critics swings widely when one more review arrives. A single 50 or a single 90 would change the headline number noticeably. Treat 76 as a launch snapshot rather than the final standing of the game.
Metacritic also splits scores by platform. A search for Echoes of Teradea Metacritic can land on the Switch 2 page, the Switch page or another edition. The labels, review counts and dates differ between them.
How OpenCritic compares
OpenCritic listed seven reviews, all dated October 15, 2026. The scores shown were PS4Blog 8.5/10, Video Chums 8.3/10, Pizza Fria 7.9/10, RPGamer 4/5 and Game8 52/100. The Outerhaven and LadiesGamers appeared without a numeric score on that list.
The spread is the useful part. Most outlets sit in the positive range, while Game8 sits near the middle of its scale. That gap explains why headline averages look more cautious than the individual write-ups.
What players on Steam think
A GamePro report on community reaction said Steam recommendations stood near 64 percent after four days. It put The Winds of Anthos higher, at 73 percent. Players mentioned controls and world exploration most often, along with the lack of keyboard and mouse support on PC.
Our launch review roundup breaks down where critics and players agree and where they split. It also covers the Switch 2 performance reports that two Metacritic critics noted. Read it next if the score alone leaves you unsure.
How to read the scores before you buy
Check three things: which platform the score belongs to, how many critics contributed, and the date of the reviews. A score from a handful of Switch 2 reviews tells you little about the PC or PS5 version. Small samples exaggerate every opinion.
If you are choosing between editions, our Switch 2 guide compares the versions and the upgrade route. Our price page shows the announced costs. Return to the live Metacritic page for the current figure, since it will keep changing as reviews are added.
