Who the Guardian of Wolf Hill is
The Guardian is Lupo, the protector of Bloomfield’s Spirit Tree. Tiny, the small Harvest Goddess who travels with you, recalls a Guardian who loves hot milk and hides in a cave at the back of Wolf Hill. Jane first treats the Guardian as an old village legend, so do not expect a quest marker before that conversation.
When you finally meet him, Lupo appears as a giant wolf and then turns into a puppy. With the Spirit Tree withered, he is too weak to keep the wild wolves calm. That is why the wolves around the hill block your way at the start of the chapter.
Trigger the quest at the Animal Center
The chapter starts with Fritz at the Animal Center, who asks you to find a lost bird. The cockatiel waits near the bridge at the Bloomfield West Entrance, and petting it once tames it. Board it through Animals In Your Care at no cost, and Betty will suggest keeping it as a pet.
Next, ask Betty about the wolves. She suggests bringing Milk to Jane, which is the step that unlocks the Guardian story. If the wolf thread seems stuck, check that you have spoken to Betty after boarding the bird.
Get Milk and the Specially Prepared Hot Milk
You can wait for your calf to produce Milk, which the collected walkthrough puts at about three days. If you do not want to wait, Richard sells Milk for 500 G. Calves in this story section take longer to mature than you might expect from older Harvest Moon games.
Take the Milk to Jane at the cafe, and she mixes it with dried Chamomile. The result is Specially Prepared Hot Milk, the offering that wakes the Guardian. Do not drink it or give it away before you reach the cave.
The vines route past the wolves
The direct path below the Spirit Tree is blocked by wolves, so you cannot walk straight to Lupo. Head west, touch the warp statue on the way, and follow the path up to the withered Spirit Tree. Just south of the tree, climb down the vines to reach the cave.
Inside, Lupo smells the Hot Milk and accepts it. He doubts that Tiny is really a goddess and tells you to stay in the village. That doubt sets up the final step of the chapter.
Fill the Happilia bottle and revive the Spirit Tree
To prove herself, Tiny needs a full star-shaped bottle of Bloomfield Happilia. Give gifts and finish villager requests, then sleep, because Happilia collects in the bottle overnight. Rowena, Lindsey, Richard and Mayor Doug all post requests that help here.
Carry the full bottle back along the roundabout route and use it on the trunk. The tree blooms, Lupo is convinced, and the wolf threat eases. The mist lifts afterward, opening the path to the Harvest Goddess Shrine.
